Top 5 SOUNDeSCAPES Highlights

The long awaited music collaboration project - SOUNDeSCAPES has finally arrived!

The Artsedex studios have been transformed into our very own Abbey Road Studios. Eight budding musicians and artists have been writing songs, learning instruments, and making friends over five days of fun and chaos.

A group of young musicians took part in the music, wellbeing, and collaboration project SOUNDeSCAPES during August. Five days of creating original music culminated in a chilled out performance for friends and family on the final day.

The young musicians had the opportunity to form bands, learn new instruments, record in a studio for the first time, and escape daily life by writing music about their surroundings and emotions. Here’s what we learned along the way:

  1. The double bass is an underrated instrument

  2. Cyanide Heart is the coolest band name

  3. Heavy Metal, Jazz and Prog Rock CAN and SHOULD be mixed into one single song; heavy jazz rock?

  4. ‘Music = fun' (direct quote from one of the musicians)

  5. Young people are making incredible music that we should all listen to

We're incredibly proud of everyone who took part, and we're very excited to see where their passion for creativity leads them to!

Huge thanks to AEE team members: Music Lead Joe, AEE Music Assistant Tom, and Visual Arts Lead Cherelle, for putting such a fun and inspiring project together.
