Become a Trustee

Arts Education Exchange are looking for voluntary trustees.

Arts Education Exchange is at an exciting stage in our organisation's journey as we expand our teams and community programme and set out plans to open an Independent Specialist School in Margate, 2022. ‘The Margate Exchange’ will be an innovative school, offering young people a true alternative to mainstream education through a unique, creative learning and enquiry framework. We will address the dearth of local placements for our target groups, who experience social, emotional and mental health difficulties and are often ‘out of the system’. In order to enable this crucial period of growth and development, we are seeking to expand and diversify our board of trustees in specific areas of knowledge, skills and experience.

1: Education - we are looking for individuals, who have some of the following:

  • Experience working in or closely with the education sector (Primary/Secondary, Specialist, Alternative, Higher Education, Education Psychology, Local Authority etc)

  • An in depth knowledge of the state education system inc. inspection and monitoring processes

  • Expertise in educational and/or social policy

  • A demonstrable knowledge of educational theory

  • In depth curriculum knowledge

  • Experience or research in areas of creativity and creative learning

2: Child and adolescent mental health

  • Extensive experience working with children and young people, particularly those with additional needs

  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding policies, procedures and practices

  • Demonstrative knowledge and understanding of therapeutic theories and practices

  • Passion for improving social emotional and educational outcomes for children and young people

3: Fundraising

  • Charity sector fundraising

  • Knowledge of trusts and foundations

  • Public / statutory funding

  • Private and corporate partnerships

Our board meets every 2 months for 1.5 hours (normally 7:30pm) and there is an expectation that advice and focussed work will be undertaken ad hoc with the Director of Learning. We are open to applicants, who are not based in the area if they offer desirable expertise. Meeting can be a blend of in person and virtual.

Arts Education Exchange are committed to diversifying our team and are particularly interested in candidates, who offer fresh experiences and perspectives.

Deadline: 25th Feb 2022
