AEE are seeking new voluntary trustees

New trustees:

Arts Education Exchange is at an exciting stage in our organisation's journey as we set out our plans to open an Independent Specialist School in Thanet, Kent for young people with complex learning needs aged 8-16. Our school will address the dearth of local placements for our target groups, who experience social, emotional and mental health difficulties and are often ‘out of the system’. We will offer an alternative approach to learning with young people by placing creativity and social justice at the heart of our curriculum.  In order to enable this crucial period of growth and development, we are seeking two new trustees with specific areas of knowledge and experience to join our team and work closely with the Managing Director to support this exciting step forward.

Are you passionate about education, the arts and young people? Do you want to be part of an innovative solution to the growing educational and economic inequality faced by young people? We want to hear from you if you are experienced in:

1: Education

  • Experience working in or closely with the education sector (Primary/Secondary, Specialist)

  • An in depth knowledge of the state education system inc. inspection and monitoring processes

  • A good understanding of educational policy related to learning outcomes

  • A demonstrable knowledge of educational theory

  • A strong belief in the positive role creativity plays in achieving personal, social and academic outcomes

2: Child and adolescent mental health

  • Extensive experience working with children and young people, particularly those with additional needs

  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding policies, procedures and practices

  • Demonstrative knowledge and understanding of therapeutic theories and practices

  • Passion for improving social emotional and educational outcomes for children and young people
