The Royal Harbour Exchange 2018/19

The Royal Harbour Exchange is a multi-disciplinary arts programme for young people aged 17/18 from Royal Harbour Academy, Ramsgate. Participants will have the opportunity to learn in an alternative setting alongside successful creative practitioners to develop both personal and professional arts practice. Young people will engage with a range of creative processes to build self-confidence and develop the ability to conceive, create and communicate ideas with others. Participants will write, record and release original music; develop filmmaking techniques that will lead to music and documentary video as well as taking part in photography, printing and digital arts workshops. In addition participants will attend industry masterclasses and an online marketing course to develop digital literacy and knowledge of how to manage and market creative practice in the 21st century. The group will work as a team and explore themes of identity, culture and belonging to facilitate an understanding of self, others and the environment and ultimately to raise aspirations through creative education. As a team the group will organise and deliver a public facing event to engage the wider community with their project. By the end of the course participants will have a portfolio of work, which will provide evidence to achieve Gold Arts Award (16 UCAS point) and contribute to the Personal & Professional Skills, Reflective Project and service Learning components of the IBCP.
