The key to the future of the music industry now lies in the hands of independent artists, making their own decisions about what they create and how they want to release it. It's an exciting time for DIY music creators as barriers to commercial success and reaching large online followings are fast fading.

We recruit young people aged 14 - 25 from across Thanet to learn how to write, produce, mix and release a finished track from scratch. Funded by the Big Lottery Fund, Arts Council England, AEE Recordings is a pioneering youth led creative movement putting young people at the forefront of the decision making. Teamed up with professional artists and producers who have worked with Polydor Records, Universal Music Publishing and Virgin/EMI Records, young people have collaborated create a compilation album 'Mixtape #1' . This release will be available to stream and buy from all major online music platforms, all sales generated from the release will be reinvested back into AEE Recordings and young people will decide how 100% of its income is spent.

Culture in any city depends on people stepping up to provide a space for it to happen in, to give it a home. That’s exactly what the Arts Education Exchange are doing in Margate and I couldn’t be more supportive.

Having the opportunity to be creative was incredibly important to finding a path through education as a kid. xChange Studios would not only be a great addition to Margate as a town but it would offer a great chance for all kids to find and explore a creative outlet for themselves.
